WAREHAM

Parish Hall – Town Quay

DISCONTINUED

Wareham was a Roman port and the Town Quay is still in use although the only commercial shipping nowadays is tripper boats from Poole. It lies a couple of miles up the river Frome from Poole harbour and with winding channels Roman skippers must have picked up a local pilot at the Haven or risked running aground at every turn. Fortunately access by car is much easier. Every Saturday there is a street market held on the quay and our farmers’ market is held once a month in the Parish Hall at the back of the Town Quay. The town has many other shops worth a visit.
